Untreated hearing impairment has been shown to contribute to the decline of the quality of life for some hearing-impaired people. The use of hearing aids can improve your quality of life. Those who did not use hearing aids were more likely to report the following:
| Psychological side effects | Physical side effects | Social side effects |
|---|---|---|
| Embarrassment Problems concentrating Sadness or depression Worry and frustration |
Exhaustion/problems sleeping Headache/vertigo Stress/tense muscles Stomach problems |
Isolation and withdrawal Reduced social activity Problems communicating |
Over the past ten years, studies have shown that hearing aid users reported significant improvements in their quality of life after they started using hearing aids.
More than half of the users reported improvements in their domestic relationships and in their own level of self-esteem. About 40% said that their lives had improved in general, that they felt better mentally, and that they had a higher degree of self-confidence.
Douglas R. MooreThese studies reinforce what we already know - hearing loss can effect your overall well-being. If you or someone you know seems to be suffering from the consequences of hearing difficulties, now may be the time to be evaluated by a Hearing Healthcare Professional.
Utilizing my skills as a Hearing Aid Specialist, Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences, I have properly evaluated and fit thousands of hearing-loss patients, thereby improving their quality of life. I believe that helping you hear better begins with a comprehensive hearing evaluation. Through the use of pure-tone testing, I can determine the severity and nature of your hearing loss. Speech Audiometry will measure your overall hearing and speech understanding. These procedures will lead to a successful auditory rehabilitation.
I am committed to matching the latest in hearing-aid technology with each patient's unique needs.
